Doris Hales (nee Hiskey), 99, formerly of Lumpkin County, Ga. and Elyria, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the Beehive Personal Care Home in Gainesville where she lived for the past four years. The caregivers are special human beings, loving and caring until the end.She was born December 10, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio, the only child of Florence and Raymond Hiskey. Doris graduated from North High School, Syracuse, N.Y. in 1944, and went on to attend The Crouse-Irving Hospital School of Nursing and earned a Registered Nurse degree in 1947. After graduation, she returned to Elyria to practice nursing at Elyria Memorial Hospital for several years before she met and married Ellsworth Hales in 1949. Doris and Ellsworth enjoyed their lives together, raising four children in Elyria, working in rewarding careers and retiring early to travel. Their travels included England, Germany, Ireland, Alaska, and Hawaii. They also enjoyed 31 years as snowbirds, living half the year
