Melvin "Mel" Paul Chadwell, age 90, of Twinsburg, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025. Mel was born in 1935 in Athens, OH to the late John and Margaret Chadwell. He is the beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Fitzgivens); dear father of Dawn (William) Welch, Deborah (Rommel) Malay, Laura (James) Jilek and Daniel (Amanda) Chadwell; cherished grandfather of Daniel, Elise, Steven, David, Jack, DJ, Gabriella & Mikayla; great grandfather of Naya, Claire, Leo, Daniel Jr., Enzo and Lilly; brother of the late John Chadwell, Lloyd Chadwell, Donald Chadwell and Margaret Probasco; dear uncle and great uncle of many.
Mel proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Mel's love of horses began young, at his father's farm where he was born. He spent his entire career working at Thoroughbred racetracks around the country. He started out as an outrider and went on to hold many positions up until the time he retired. Mel was wickedly funny, very compassionate and stubborn as a mule. B
